Happy First Birthday Emerson Claire!

I cannot believe this day has arrived!  My precious baby girl is ONE!  Where did the year go?  I get tears in my eyes as I type this post.  This baby brings us so much joy!  I just can’t even begin to put it into words. Brandon and I wrote the following together!

Dear Sweet Emmie,

From the moment you were born you had us all wrapped around your little finger.  You are absolutely precious and sweet and perfect in every way imaginable!  You have delighted us so much over the last twelve months.  You are so happy and full of joy!  You very rarely get upset about anything, and if you do it’s usually because you are sick.  You have such an even temperament about you.  I have been guilty of babying you as much as I could for quite some time now.  I am in no hurry for you to walk, although I know the time is approaching because you are cruising about holding onto things.  You are still nursing, but you are enjoying exploring table food so much!  Your favorites are bananas and Mommy’s meatballs so far! You have had a little bit of cow’s milk in a sippy cup and seem to love it, you gulp it down! You do so great at independent playtime, when your big sister lets you play alone.  You love to listen to books and songs and try to catch glimpses of everything Addie does.  She loves to entertain you.   You are crawling all over the place and getting into everything but when I tell you no, you usually stop and move on as if to say, “Ok mom, sounds good!”  You love to clap and wave bye bye, and you say da-da-da-da often!  You’ve started to say UH-Oh, but the Oh doesn’t always come out.  We love the way that you are such an observer.  You love to take things in and just soak them up…you are always watching others!  We think you are going to be the more quiet of our two girls. ;) We feel that you are the perfect compliment to Addie, fitting like a perfect little puzzle piece in our family.  You seem to be a thinker first, then talker second.  Your most ticklish spot is on the right side of your neck under your chin, you just giggle and giggle when we tickle you there.  You are smiley and happy but maybe a little shy when you meet new people and sometimes you cry when your mommy leaves the room, but you always smile when daddy comes in.  You still take two naps a day, about 1.5-2 hours each and at night you sleep 12 hours, 7:30-7:30.  You are not much of a “cuddler.”  At bed time you will NOT let us rock you!  You’d rather just lay down in your bed and go to sleep!   You are my JOY sweet girl!  I cannot believe you are already one!  You make our hearts so incredibly happy!  When we are apart I miss you tremendously!  You are our baby girl and we love you to the moon and back!  Happy first birthday my little punkin-head!

XOXO,
Mommy & Daddy

Sickies Go AWAY!

The last week has been so sad in our house!  The girls have been super duper sick with the flu.  I took pictures of them in all their sadness because they NEVER sit this still.  It broke my heart to see them so miserable.  They are already much much better and I am SO SO thankful but I had to document the sickies as best I could…

The first two photos were in the doctor’s office waiting room….

Addie-isms

There are so many funny things that Addie says at 3.5 years of age.  I have been talking about starting a post for a while of her funny sayings so that we don’t forget them!  I can hardly believe she will be 4 in just a little over 3 months!

1. “Last day”  - this means yesterday in Addie-talk
2. “Mom, I’ve been bless-you-in a lot today!” – this means sneezing
3. “Where are we going tomorrow?  Where are we going after that?” – CONSTANTLY
4. “I’ve got runnies” – This means a runny nose
5. “Blue cookie” – rice crispie treat
6. “How much until my sun turns yellow?” – at bedtime every night
7. Walking through the airport passing a lady with a teased pony tail – loud as the day is long – “Mommy, she has silly hair!!”
8. “Can I have some freezing chicken?” – Chicken nuggets straight from freezer, no heating please.  GROSS!
9. “Mom or Dad will you put me to night night?”
10. “Who are you texting?”
11. “None of this would be possible without all of you!  Now, for your musical enjoyment….” – She starts her “concerts” this way.
12. “We can pee in the shower because there is a little hole, but not in the bath tub, right Mom?” – nuff said.
To be continued as I think of things…..

Santa Fiasco 2012…Ho. Ho. Ho.

So, there’s a bit of a story behind our “Visit with Santa” for this year.  At the very beginning of December when we met my Mom and Granny in Canton I picked up the most adorable red ruffle legs for the girls.  Precious, precious, precious! I could not wait for the two of them to sit in Santa’s lap so I could get my annual photo of BOTH of my precious girls in these adorable ruffle legs.  Of course, not just any dress or top would do with such “loud” pants.  So I searched and I searched.  A few weeks ago I found the MOST perfect dresses!  Lauren Bib Dresses from Stelly Belly were posted on FB as a midday special in red and green polka dots.  I mean precious! I told my dear mother about the dresses and being so sweet she offered to pay for them!  So we ordered them in both girls’ sizes.  The dresses in all of their perfection arrived 3 days later….to which my heart was delighted! I have never been so excited for the girls to wear something together!  These outfits would be so perfect!  My plan was to take them the week before Addie got out of school one evening and meet Brandon in Allen for our favorite Santa.  Well, sickness set in.  That particular week I came down with strep throat and a double ear infection, while rapidly working to complete a large Zulily order that had to ship out by the end of the week.  Needless to say, Santa did not get a visit from the Harmons that week.  So on the Thursday of Addie’s program I decided to let her wear her SPECIAL new dress with ruffle legs for her party and program.  As soon as I put that dress on her she FREAKED out…crying, saying it itched, it hurt, I was so irritated!  She then proceeded to PUKE all over the dress because she was crying so hard she gagged herself!  (What this Mom-of-the-Year didn’t know is that my Addie bug was rapidly coming down with a virus…which would later that day be identified as the FLU!!!)  So I put her in another Christmas dress and off she went to her program. (More on that later) Since she became very ill by that afternoon, which was December 20th, Santa pictures were again put off.  Once the tamiflu settled in and made her magically…and I mean magically better I was ready to wash those dresses, make them “un-itchy” and head to Allen!  Then, Emmie became ill with the very same flu…boo hoo.  After what seemed like months of illness (but was only days), Christmas Eve rolled around and we still did not have Santa pictures!  So, my sweet Dad graciously invited us to his office for the Santa that visits his employee’s children.  But since Emmie was still sick Addie went alone with her Daddy to Dallas to see Santa just in the “NICK” of time!  She enjoyed it and was highly impressed by the Santa!!  She sat in his lap, told him she wanted a doll house and a drum.  (A DRUM!? Santa did not know about this and it was Christmas EVE!) But he was able to make an emergency trip back to the north pole in time for Christmas day.  So long story short, we got a picture of ADDIE in his lap, but I did not get my picture of both girls in Santa’s lap.  Boo hoo!  I did put them in the dresses today to get a picture by our tree.  I just think they are the cutest in these dresses!  And Emmie started feeling better today, therefore smiling again..which made the picture all that much sweeter.  I am reminded that Christmas is not about toys, gifts or even SANTA, but about a baby boy that changed the world….Jesus.  Jesus is what it’s all about!  Thank you God for this precious gift!  And…..Thank you Jesus for helping my babies get over this nasty flu virus!  We’ll try again next year!  :)

Christmas with Nana and Leelee

Today we had Christmas with Nana and Leelee! If you ask Addie she says the new princess girls she received were the best part of the day!  It was so much fun.  We enjoyed yummy lasagna and had a gift exchange!  Sweet memories!  A favorite of mine was after Lindsey gave me my Christmas foot massage….(yes, I am THAT lucky! I have a massage therapist sister in law who loves to bestow her gifted massage skills on me!!!) …so anyway after my foot massage Addie asked Lindsey to rub her feet.  LOL!  And of course she was in her full princess get-up, laying on the couch having a foot rub…while playing games on my phone…tough life.  She is a mess!!

Christmas at Bubbie and Poppie’s House

We had our annual Christmas celebration a couple of weekends ago at Bubbie and Poppie’s!  It was a super fun time!  The girls received some exciting new toys and clothes and we scored too!  I’m so totally excited about our new KUERIG!  We have been making some yummy coffee!  When are YOU coming over for a cup?! The girls really enjoyed our time that day!
