Sophie has a new home. Tears. A new family. Sad, but happy at the same time. It’s so good for her. Just a little background. About the time we decided to find Sophie a new home, a sweet retired couple in East Texas lost their beloved cocker spaniel, named…get this…Sophie. Bob and Mary Ann were heartbroken and almost immediately began to look for a new dog to come to live with them. They happened upon our Sophie’s picture and bio on the DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue website and just HAD to meet her.
When we were in San Antonio, Sophie stayed with a volunteer from the DFWCSR. On that Saturday, they took her to the meet and greet in Lewisville and Bob and Mary Ann drove in to meet Sophie in person. It was love at first sight! They took her home with them for a “trial run.” By Monday night I had an email from them saying that Sophie was doing so well, had not been a minute’s trouble, and they were going to adopt her. In fact, on the drive home she had already won their hearts. She even commented on how Sophie loved to sit in her lap each night and be brushed. Don’t you know she loves that attention?
So, we were hoping to make a road trip to Tyler to tell her good bye one last time, but I am not sure that Bob and Mary Ann are too excited about that. Maybe they are afraid we’ll come out there and change our minds? Who knows…. We definitely did not tell her goodbye for good when we dropped her off for our trip…and we may not ever be able to tell her goodbye. But that, my friends, may be a blessing in disguise. I know it would probably be really hard.
Although we already miss her, it’s so good to know she is someone’s ONE AND ONLY baby again. Not to mention, it makes our hearts overflow with joy to know she is thriving once again and being the sweet dog we know she can be.
Ok, tears. Again.
We love you, Sweet Sophie. And we’ll never, EVER forget you.
