So You Think You Can Dance LIVE!!!!

Today, I received the following email from my husband:

Mark Wed Sep 22 on your calendar...we're going to see So You Think You Can Dance - Live Tour!  Love you.

Anyone who knows me knows that I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THIS SHOW!  I love, love, love it!! I have been known to watch single episodes 5 or 6 times each!  AND the episode where Twitch and Alex do hip hop (see photo below) is protected (un-deletable) on my DVR b/c when I am feeling glum, all I have to do is watch that dance to perk back up! h_352_65251

I might even have downloaded the nappytabs routine from the dizzy feet foundation website and and I MIGHT be secretly practicing the routine when I am home alone….??

I love this show so much and my sweet, amazing, wonderful husband has completely surprised me with tickets to their live tour!!!!

I can hardly wait!!!!!!!!!!

My, how things change in a year, don’t they??? :-)

July 4th!

Just a little late, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post photos from our July 4th this year!  We had a wonderful July 4th WEEKEND with some of our great friends!  Our weekend was full of swimming, grilling out, hanging with friends, fireworks, and even a big sleep over!  Great memories!  This year I am reminded of the great sacrifice that is made on your behalf and mine each and every day for our freedoms.  I am so grateful to the brave men and women that leave behind their families and their lives to protect mine.  I know we enjoy our celebrations, but we should always be mindful of the real REASON for July 4th.

Ok, now for some pictures….

Thanks Grandma Cece for the super cute All American Girl outfit!

Good-Bye Sweet Sophie

Sophie has a new home.  Tears. A new family.  Sad, but happy at the same time.  It’s so good for her.  Just a little background.  About the time we decided to find Sophie a new home, a sweet retired couple in East Texas lost their beloved cocker spaniel, named…get this…Sophie.  Bob and Mary Ann were heartbroken and almost immediately began to look for a new dog to come to live with them.  They happened upon our Sophie’s picture and bio on the DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue website and just HAD to meet her.

When we were in San Antonio, Sophie stayed with a volunteer from the DFWCSR.  On that Saturday, they took her to the meet and greet in Lewisville and Bob and Mary Ann drove in to meet Sophie in person.  It was love at first sight!  They took her home with them for a “trial run.”   By Monday night I had an email from them saying that Sophie was doing so well, had not been a minute’s trouble, and they were going to adopt her. In fact, on the drive home she had already won their hearts.  She even commented on how Sophie loved to sit in her lap each night and be brushed.  Don’t you know she loves that attention?

So, we were hoping to make a road trip to Tyler to tell her good bye one last time, but I am not sure that Bob and Mary Ann are too excited about that.  Maybe they are afraid we’ll come out there and change our minds? Who knows….  We definitely did not tell her goodbye for good when we dropped her off for our trip…and we may not ever be able to tell her goodbye.  But that, my friends, may be a blessing in disguise.  I know it would probably be really hard.

Although we already miss her, it’s so good to know she is someone’s ONE AND ONLY baby again.  Not to mention, it makes our hearts overflow with joy to know she is thriving once again and being the sweet dog we know she can be.

Ok, tears. Again.

We love you, Sweet Sophie.  And we’ll never, EVER forget you.

Remember the Alamo!

Ha!  Just kidding, the title should really be, REMEMBER SAN ANTONIO!  Brandon and had the most wonderful, romantic, relaxing weekend away!  We cannot thank my Dad and Julie enough for keeping Addie for us!  It was our first time to leave her over night, and we left her for THREE nights!  She had a WONDERFUL time at her Bubbie and Poppie’s house and so did we!  It was so rejuvenating and refreshing to spend time together, alone, in such a fun, romantic city!

On Thursday, as I was packing everything up, Addie enjoyed following behind me and UNPACKING everything!

I was a little sad when we dropped her off, but my sweet husband told me to check the glove box as we drove away from their house.  In the glove box were two cards.  One from him and one from Addie.  The one from Addie said, “Counting the days till I see you again.”  Then she “wrote” a sweet note inside thanking me for loving her daddy so much that I would leave her for a few days to spend quality time with him.  Ahhh!  Melt my heart!

We hit the road (well after dropping off Sophie…more on that in a future post!)  and drove about 2.5 hours to the quaint, romantic city of Salado, Texas, where we checked into the adorable bed and breakfast in the picture below.  That night we had a yummy dinner at a local restaurant and then sat on the porch in rocking chairs and caught up!  It was so much fun!  The earlier rain that day made the air cool and crisp!

Friday morning we had a delicious breakfast and drove onward to San Antonio.  We made a pit-stop at the San Marcos outlets though, and had to check out the 7’s for all Mankind Outlet.  (Shout out to Tonya for telling me about this! :-)  It was such a fun store!  I didn’t buy any jeans, but I did get a cute top!IMG_0371

Then once we made our way into San Antonio, we hunted down “The Cove.”  Brandon and I are Food Network junkies and one of our favorite shows is “Diners, Drive ins, and Dives.”  Recently they featured a restaurant that is connected to a carwash and laundry mat that is small, family-owned, and serves all organic food.  They have the most amazing creations!  Brandon had their famous lamb burger, and I had the bella burger.  This has a portabella mushroom for the meat!  I had to take a picture!  (Chani, we both like taking pictures of our food!!)

Then we arrived at our hotel, which was on the riverwalk.  We parked our car Friday afternoon and never had to use it again all weekend.  LOVE that!  We walked everywhere!  LOTS of fun!  Margaritas, Mexican food, Roof-top Pool Time, Breakfast in Bed, Romantic Dinners, ECLIPSE at the IMAX, shopping for the PERFECT 12 month size Mexican Dress (BTW we found it!!), and even a river cruise!  So much fun!

Meanwhile, back at Bubbie and Poppie’s house, Addie was having a fun vacation too!  They spoiled her to pieces and she had a blast!  Here are some of the pictures they sent us throughout the weekend.  (I might have looked at the pictures on my phone 100 or so times each!)

Thank you Bubbie, Poppie, Uncle Ryan, and Uncle Thomas for making our weekend getaway possible!  We had such an amazing time!! We love you guys!
