Sweet, sweet Saturday

Do you ever get so behind on blogging that you sort of feel overwhelmed about where to pick back up because you have missed so much?  Well….That’s where I am.  I have been thinking about how I need to go back and catch up on the last month I have missed.  But you know what?  There isn’t enough time in the day to do that, so I have decided to tell my blog who’s boss and just write about now.  So here goes!

Today was a sweet, sweet Saturday!  We started out the day in south Arlington for Vivian and Lindsey’s annual ladies’ Christmas brunch.  We had a lovely time!  Addie was so sweet and played along with the girly thing very well!

She’s not feeling all that great right now..but she was still so sweet and was so excited to see her Nana and her LeeLee!

DSC04037DSC04038DSC04042DSC04043

Then after nap this afternoon, we loaded up Addie and took her to see Santa!   She was happy and excited from the moment she could see him.  She kept saying, “Santa!  Ho, ho, ho!”  But the minute her daddy handed her over to him, she panicked!  She wanted nothing to do with him up close!  So, he suggested we all get in his lap and this was the best we could get.  I think it’s such a funny memory!

After Santa, we went out to eat, drove through Starbuck’s, and went and drove through Deerfield in Plano to look at Christmas lights!  Addie loved it!  She kept pointing and saying, “Lights!” “Santa!” “Christmas Tree!” (Which sounds more like “tree tree!”)  Oh, and my favorite thing of all?  When you ask her to sing you a song and she just starts making up songs.  Better than any song on the radio!!

It was a very sweet Saturday for our family!

I could not resist posting these pictures even though it was week before last.  We met Rylee and Amanda for lunch one day and took these pictures of them.  I just love them!

Rylee made this funny face and I just think it is so cute!!

And the following picture…is Addie’s new favorite spot to climb to…she’ll get up there and announce, “NO! NO!”  Little stinker!

So…when I was pregnant with Addie, I bought the shirt in this next picture on clearance at Macy’s for $1!  I love it because it says “Mom’s Favorite Gift”.  It is a 12 month size and swallowed her up last year so I tried it this past Thursday for school and it worked!  Her belly stuck out just a little underneath, but for the most part it looked cute!  I just love sharing Christmastime with this sweet little girl!

When My Heart Feels Hurried

This was on my Dayspring Devotional today and it really spoke to me.  I hope it speaks to you too.

When your heart feels hurried...

'Tis the season to be busy.
There are gifts to buy, meals to make, trips to take, decorations to be hung, songs to be sung, places to go, people to see…
It's December 1st and I'm already tired. Anyone else?

I read the words... Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
But how can I be still when there's so much going on?
Of course, the first answer is to simplify my life.
Yet the kind of stillness God is talking about isn't just about my circumstances. It's about being still on the inside.

I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother. Psalm 131:2 What is a weaned child like? One that has learned to stop asking for more, more, more and instead simply rests in the arms of love, love, love.

My hurry and stress come from that want of more. I want to do more, be more, pack more in to these few short days. Then it seems God whispers to my heart, "Enough. You are enough. You have enough. In the middle of the busy, make a quiet place inside and stay with me. My love is what you really need."

I settle, quiet down, breathe a sigh of relief. The miracle of Christmas?
God came for us so we could come to Him. Even (especially) in the busy, broken, chaos of our lives.
'Tis the season to be still.

So Many Things….

There are so many things I want to blog about!  If I had time, I would sit down and write a separate post about each and every one of these things.  But today I do not have time, and I do not see myself having extra time for about a week because I have so many orders to keep up with for my business {Insert Here: HUGE BLESSING!!!} and my dear friend Tara and I have a booth at our church shopping fair next weekend.  So, any time in the next week that I have to spare will be spent in my “sweat shop” creating masterpieces!!

If I had time to sit and blog lengthy paragraphs about the delicious and sometimes goofy details in my little life, here would be some of the subjects:

* The amazing date night Brandon and I were blessed with (Thanks to Bubbie!) last weekend – One word: Houston’s!

* All of the blessings in my life that I am thankful for…this list is too long to count!

* Our {very memorable} Thanksgiving Day – Side note: Addie is never going without a nap again! LOL!

* The delicious chipotle gouda and havarti mac and cheese that Brandon and I made together on Thursday

* The utter joy and trickiness of decorating for Christmas this year!

* Experiencing Addie’s awe of our lighted Christmas trees (especially the mini-tree in her room) and the appearance of “home” from the curb.

* Remembering as I decorate that the gift of Jesus is why we celebrate Christmas

* How much I have missed my little four year olds over the break!

* My brother, Brian is doing great in rehab and I would love your continued prayers for his healing.

*And finally, our annual family fall photo shoot! We have the most wonderful photographer. We took pictures in downtown McKinney on Tuesday.  You can visit her site by clicking HERE.   I am trying to wait to show all the pictures until I pick a few for our Christmas card, but I am IN LOVE WITH THIS ONE and could not resist posting it!!! Oh, and if you happen to click on her link, you may see a few more!!!  She is so talented!

Sweet Landry’s Dedication

We were so blessed to attend our sweet little Landry’s dedication at Fellowship Church last Saturday night!  He was absolutely ADORABLE in his little argyle sweater and newsboy hat.  Hillary and Brad were so sweet to take us all out to dinner at Salerno’s (one of my VERY favorite Flower Mound local cuisines) after the service where we celebrated sweet Landry’s life and this monumental day!  Thank you Lairds for including us!  We had a great time and are so happy for your family!

Sweet Landry,
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
We love you SO MUCH!

Phases and Stages…

First of all, let me just say that this little face….

DSC03253

brings me more joy than I ever thought humanly possible.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being her momma and spending my days with her.  She never fails to turn a bad day around for me with a simple “Hi!” or a kiss or a hug for no apparent reason.  I also love that the trash truck makes her giggle beyond measure and that, too reminds me to stop and smell the roses.

However, as a first time mom, I am thinking the phase we are in right now – approximately 19 months – is one of the most frustrating times I have seen with her and it was not something I was expecting!  Here is why:  She is still a baby in so many ways, but she is a toddler in so many ways.  She understands how to do the right thing and how to do the wrong thing, but she doesn’t always understand the logic behind the discipline.  It’s impossible to reason with a 19 month old, especially when her safety is at risk.  When I tell her it is not ok to stand on the coffee table, she thinks I am so mean – but I want her to understand that I am just trying to protect her from falling. I realize that the day will come when she understands this, and STILL thinks I am so mean…but at least in my heart I will know that she understands.   Anyway, she is trying us more and more but we are sticking to our toddler curriculum, and constantly aiming to “begin as we mean to go,” however, some days it is just a little more trying than other days.  It sure is a good thing she is so darn cute, isn’t it?

DSC03280

So tell me, all of you experienced moms out there in blogland:

whether your baby is 15 days old or 15 years old, what phase or stage are you facing right now?  I know I can’t be alone!  Let’s encourage one another!  Email me at harmon0323@yahoo.com or leave a comment here so others can see too!

Loads of love,

The Hunt!

This is one of Addie’s daily adventures these days and this morning I caught the series of events on camera!

Addie’s thought process:

“Marshmallows, marshmallows, where are you?”

Digging…Digging…

IMG_0478

“Found them!  How fast can I run with them?”

IMG_0479

“Maybe if Mom doesn’t see me I can eat the whole bag in a corner somewhere!?”

IMG_0480

“I will just set them here to figure out how to open them…”

IMG_0481

“DANG!  I need help opening them!”

IMG_0486

“Thank you Mommy!”

IMG_0485

“Ahhh..Life is good.”
