Happy Birthday....

...to my blog!
I know it may seem silly, but today I am wishing a Happy Birthday to My Blog! One year ago today I started this blog. If you click here you can see the beginning. The very first post wasn't really anything special, but rather just "here I am" so I this is a link to the first post of real value. I have to give a virtual "hug" to my friend Alyson, who encouraged me to start this blog and if it weren't for her, there may be no blog! Love ya Alyson! You can check out her blog here; it's quite amazing!

Graphic from first "real" blog entry....
The thing that boggles my mind as I reflect on the start of this blog, is that one year later, it's crazy to think of how much our lives have changed! We now read that very same ABC book to Addie all the time and she sits up and giggles as we read it to her. It blows my mind to think of how God has blessed our lives in just one year. I enjoy keeping up with this blog as a way to document our lives for friends and family, but it has also become a way for me to detail the daily life of our precious girl so that she can look back when she grows up. Thank you, to my wonderful blog reading friends and family for being interested in what's going on with us. If it weren't for you out there in blog land reading my posts, I would probably not be nearly as motivated to keep up! I love you all! Happy Birthday Blog!

ps...I created this post Sunday and saved it to post today. I am way too tired tonight to create a blog birthday post. hee hee -- Yay for the save ahead feature.

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas....

Addie's first time to see a Christmas tree...she was amazed! I love the look on her face here....
It was the perfect day! Christmas candle burning, Christmas music playing! Addie and I spent the day working on making the inside of our house look like Christmas. She found her favorite decorations right away! (See below) Of course, she dressed the part, wearing her "I love Santa" outfit from Bubbie and Popee. She is feeling a little under the weather, but still helped me so much today! ;-)
While we were busy inside, Daddy was busy outside! Look at what he did all by himself today. I was so proud!! He added some new lights this year! I sure worry about him on the roof, but thank goodness he was ok! Thank you Brandon, for making our house look like Christmas from the outside! :-)

Fun times at the Harmon household! Just a little bit to finish up tomorrow. :-)

Santa Baby

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! Christmastime is here! I am so happy! It's my favorite time of year, and this year is extra special because we have our favorite gift of all to share it with!
Thank you Auntie M for the super fun reindeer outfit!!! We love it! :-)

Big Girl... Crib Transition Time!

When we come into Addie's room after a nap or in the mornings, we are greeted with this sweet face peeping over the crib....

Since she is about to crawl any day now, and is sitting up, Momma's worried about her plunging over the edge of the crib. So....we moved it to the lowest setting to keep our precious bundle safe. I can't believe how fast she is growing!

Addie's First Turkey Day!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our precious little turkey! She was all smiles and a ton of fun as we visited Brandon's dad's side of the family in Midlothian, Texas. We were able to see lots of family members that we love and don't get to see often enough, including Mimi, Aunt Pam, and Aunt Neecie. Addie also got to meet and play with her cousin Caiden, who was born three months before her. He lives near Lubbock. We were blessed to have my dad and Brandon's mom join us as well. We ate great food, watched football, and rolled around on the floor a lot! We are SO VERY BLESSED this year, and have so much to be thankful for. Can't wait for Christmastime to arrive tomorrow!!

Addie with her Great Mimi

Our Little Turkey... :-) Thank you Grandma Cece and Grandpa for the super fun turkey outfit and bib that says "I am thankful for Mommy." Daddy got out his sharpie when he saw the bib, but we're not sure why???

Happy THANKSGIVING to all, and to all a GOOD NIGHT! :-)

15 Things that Change When You have a Baby

Love this article that was emailed to me by BabyCenter.com

Fifteen things that change when you have a baby
by Rebecca Woolf

What changes when you have a baby? A better question may be: What doesn't change? Here, writer and mom Rebecca Woolf lists her most notable post-baby observations.

1. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.

2. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.

3. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.

4. You respect your body ... finally.

5. You respect your parents and love them in a new way.

6. You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.

7. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.

8. You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago.

9. Your heart breaks much more easily.

10. You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

11. Every day is a surprise.

12. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

13. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

14. You become a morning person.

15. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

MLIA???

So..... I have many former students that are my friends on Facebook. Some are even driving, as scary as that sounds! When you think that I have been teaching for 10 years and my first class was a group of second graders, it makes sense that they are 17/18 this year. That is crazy to me! So, I have noticed a new acronym that many of them use frequently on their FB posts. It is MLIA. Do you know what it means??? I didn't, so I asked. My precious Kelsie, who was a darling and sweet little girl, and has grown into a graceful, smart teenager, answered me promptly.

Her reply? "Mrs. Harmon, it means My Life is Average."

Hmmmm....that really made me think....is that what the typical American teenager thinks? That their life is AVERAGE? Just average? With all the cool technology they enjoy each day, more freedoms than teenagers of former generations experience? Does this have a hidden message? Maybe they want to go back? Back to more structure, more predictability? Or maybe it just means they wish they had a boyfriend or girlfriend? Ha ha. So, the point of this post, you may be wondering?

I have decided. My goal for my little girl's future favorite acronym is this:
mlIWBTa
Get it?
My Life is WAY BETTER THAN Average! Why? Because that is how Mommy feels. I find my joy in my God. I pray for contentment and joy each day, no matter my circumstances. I can admit that some days it is harder than others, but my ultimate prayer is that my baby girl grows up to feel the same way.

One of my favorite scriptures of all time says this:
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

SO, there you have it! MLIWBTA!!!!! Happy Sunday! After all of this deep thinking, enough for one morning! I am off to get ready for church! :-) ~M

One Year Ago Today....

One year ago today, we lost a great man. It's hard to believe that a year has already gone by since the day we lost Brandon's dad, Brandon's best friend. Morris was one of the most hilarious people I have ever met. He could make you smile on your worst day. He was a loyal fried to those he loved and a faithful father and family man. He worked hard and taught my husband to be a man of his word, a man of integrity, and a man of strong work ethic. Sometimes we still can't really believe he is gone, and that he never got to meet our sweet Addie B. He had already decided that he wanted to be called Granddaddy by her. When we found out it was a girl, he was the first person Brandon called. But we know that he is her special angel and he is watching over her from Heaven, and one day we will see him again. Morris, we miss you, we love you, and we can't wait to see you again.

Morris was the best man in our wedding. What a special memory....

3 Posts in One Night!!!

Wow, I feel all caught up now! See below for 3 posts! Love to all! Happy Weekend!

Dedication Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend! We dedicated Addie at church on Sunday and were so blessed to have many of our closest family and friends here to share in the special time with us. A dedication in our church is a time to make a public promise to raise your child in church and teach them about Jesus. It was a sweet time for Brandon and me to declare our intentions for raising our precious baby girl. We feel so blessed to be her parents.

Yummy, black, shiny dress shoes taste delicious! I took this next picture so you could see the adorable bow on the back of the dress. Auntie M. and Mr. Micah gave Addie this dress a little while back. I thought it was perfect for her dedication! So sweet!

Our friends Pete and Jolene dedicated their son, Henry at the same time. It was so sweet to do this together. That is Pete and Henry next B and A. All of the parents and babies....if you click on the picture you can see Addie up close.

This was when Pastor John was praying over Addie. It was a sweet prayer that I will always remember.

It's a little hard to see, but when your baby is dedicated, they put a picture of the baby with his or her name on the screen....
My mom enhanced this photo of the three of us on stage during the dedication...

When the dedication was over, we hosted everyone to our house for a yummy lunch. Addie started to get tired, but she was still so sweet!

My friend Jeanette made these yummy, adorable petit fours for the special day!
Bubbee and Aunt Lindsey...
We were blessed to have my mom and Skip in town for the weekend from Portland, Oregon to share in the special time in Addie's life. Here are some pictures from their visit....

My mom broke her foot last week on a walk! She stepped on a gumball that fell from a tree. She cannot put weight on it for at least 8 weeks and has to wear a boot! Please pray for healing for her foot. Thanks Mom for still coming even though I know it wasn't easy for you!

Addie's Latest Photo Journal

Addie went to her first Chili Cookoff last weekend! Our school district hosts the Chili Challenge every year. It was fun to have her there with us! My Granny and Papa recently sent Addie a package and one of the things in it was this adorable outfit with jeans and the cute pink shirt. Thank you guys! She looks so cute in it!!!

This is Addie's friend Ben and his mommy, Amy, who teaches with me at school.
This is Addie's fan club! Tonya and Chani love Addie so much and she was so happy to see them at the Chili Cookoff!

My Mom and Skip got Addie this new toy and she loves it! It teaches colors, shapes, numbers, farm animals, letters, and everything else she needs for Kindergarten. Sharon W., do you think she'll be ready to start after Christmas?

Auntie Hillie gave Addie this outfit at my shower in Houston and we are SOOOO Excited that it finally fits! She wore it to the third grade play Thursday night!
I love this onesie! It says Dr. Seuss on the bottom...

This is the newest position of choice, I like to call it the Downward Dog from Yoga. She discovered the toilet paper in her play zone and had to check it out...

Big girl sits up now all by herself!!!
Carol (Auntie M) took this picture of Addie's feet on Sunday...I think they look like little ballerina toes...

Anything she can get in her mouth goes straight in!

Addie's first (and only, so far) teeth!

Auntie M. gave Addie this outfit and we took lots of pictures of her in it a few weeks ago. We like to play fashion show!

Who doesn't love naked baby pics?

Bubbee gave Addie this shirt. It says Naturally Sweet on it. Love it!
