Shower Photos!

Here are a couple of photos from our baby shower that I was able to upload! These are from my mom's camera. Thanks for sharing Mom! I am waiting on a few more from my friend Corey. There is a great picture of all of the hosts/hostesses that I really want to post too!

This is my best friend Carol. We became friends in college. We have been friends for a long time! She was the maid of honor in my wedding! She's been there for me through thick and thin! It was her house where the shower was located.

My sweet friend Corey that I went to high school with was also in my wedding. She is a wonderful friend and we have kept our friendship going through the years! She was one of the hostesses at the party. She just had her second baby girl, Gracie and this is a picture of me holding her. Isn't she sweet?

This is a picture of the guys hangin' on the patio eating dinner. From the left, Micah, Jason (our fabulous MALE hosts!) Brandon, and Jake (Nathan and Stacey's PRECIOUS little boy!)

These are two of my girlfriends from highschool, Christy (who is pregnant with a little boy, Tyler) and Corey (this is Gracie's mommy). Notice the table decorations!!! These were the adorable jars filled with all kinds of pink candies I was talking about in my last post! And the candleabra, and the pink table cloth! So cute!

My stepdad, Skip has a very sweet family! These are his sisters, nieces, mom, and aunt. It meant so much to us that they came to share our special day with us!

When we opened our gifts, our friends' kids, Luke, Jake, and Baylie helped us! It was so cute and sweet. They would help us pick out which one to open next and then help us open them. Gift opening is so much fun with kids!

So Much Fun!!!

We had our first baby shower last weekend in Houston! It was so much fun. We had an absolute blast seeing everyone. The shower was so wonderfully planned...every detail was adorable! The food was a delicious meal of lasagna, salad, and bread followed by a dessert of petit fours with Addie's initials on them in pink. There were tables everywhere with pink table cloths and clear glass jars filled with pink candies as centerpieces! So cute and so tasty! :-) There were also beautiful pink roses in vases throughout the house. It was so amazing! Brandon and I were humbled by the generosity of our friends and family. We received so many wonderful gifts and felt so showered with love! I spent the afternoon today putting all of her new goodies away. It was so much FUN! My mom and Skip were able to fly down from Oregon to be a part of the celebration, which was so neat! Thank you Carol, Micah, Natalie, Jason, Kristie, Chris, Corey, and Parker for hosting the most wonderful party in our honor! We made memories we will never forget and we feel so blessed! I tried to post pictures with this blog, but I am having technical difficulties b/c the pictures are on Shutterfly and I can't figure out how to get them in "postable format" ... so hopefully within a few days I will have pictures to post!

Also, I went to the doctor this week for my 7 month appointment and glucose screening test and everything came back normal! Hooray! Praise God! We did another sonogram and the doctor confirmed for me that she is a girl and that she is growing at the right pace. We set a date for our delivery: April 3! Only 66 days to go! Can't wait to meet her and kiss that precious little face! I got to see a glimpse of her face in the sonogram....she is so sweet!

Pillow Talk....

My mother in law, Vivian, gave us the first piece of Addie's bedding Monday night! She made this adorable bolster style pillow which incorporates all of the fabrics from her room into one pillow! (the brown minky dot is on the ends...the stripes around the middle are the same fabric as the drapes) She gave it to us so that we would have it to show at our showers. Isn't it the cutest thing!!?? I am SO happy with how it turned out! It's always a little scary to pick out fabrics, because you THINK they will look good together, but then when you actually get to see them together, and it's really fun! Also, it is so soft and cuddly! I can't wait for the rest of her room to come together! I was so excited, I just had to share it with you! :-)

The Armor of God....

Last night as I sat and listened to our pastor talk about how God's strength is made perfect in our weakness, I was moved to tears. I worry every day about something going wrong with my pregnancy. I have to constantly remind myself that my faith has to replace my fear and that the Bible says clearly that one replaces the other. Brandon and I pray every day for Addie to be healthy and strong and we ask God to protect her as she grows. But then I still worry.... So last night's message was perfect for me. I was reminded of Ephesians 6:10-18, which is below. I have to put on the Armor of God...the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit, and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. I remember learning this in in Sunday School as a little girl, but I had forgotten what a powerful visual reminder it is to me. At the end of the message, our pastor got really excited reminding us that no matter what comes our way in this life, that God will never leave us! He will never forsake us! He promises to be there for us no matter what! That's when I started to cry...and it was also the first time I looked down at my belly and could actually see my little girl moving all around. There were little bumps and kicks all visible from the outside. Wow...she must have been moved too. :-) Sometimes, a message just feels SO right, you know? Thanks God for preparing that message just for me.

The Armor of God

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Today Brandon finished Addie's room! I am so happy with how it turned out! I just LOVE it! He worked so hard for about 8 days in a row on it and his hard work paid off. One of the things I love about him is how meticulous he is with his projects. He went to so much trouble to make sure it is perfect for his little girl. One entire day was spent touching up the stripes so that they were perfectly straight. He has so much patience! Our bedding is in the process of being made by Brandon's mom (Addie's grandma) and her friend. It will be pinks and browns. This is so much fun! I am posting some pictures of her very girly room:

Our doctor recommended that we start looking for a pediatrician so that we already have one when we have Addie. Please help! I am printing a list for him to see if he knows any of the doctors on our insurance. Do any of you have a pediatrician that you love in this area? Thanks for any help/advice you can offer!
